Gunnar Hanson

Lead Pastor

Pastor Gunnar served in the United States Navy from July 5, 1993 to March 5, 2005 when he was honorably discharged from the service. He is thankful for the lifelong friends and memories in the SEAL teams as they were used to shape him into the man he is today. In May 2007, Pastor Gunnar was invited to take on the task of revitalizing Grace Point Church. After much prayer, Gunnar with the support of his wife Anna, took a leap of faith and decided to take on the mission God had placed before them. Gunnar wasted no time getting involved in the community taking advantage of every opportunity to serve. Gunnar volunteers with Camp Julian Oaks and is very involved with the Escondido Police Department as a chaplain.

“He was despised and rejected— a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!”
